New Name For Achalachia?
Jan 29, 2010 News
Over the years many people, and band members, have asked if we should change our name, and we’ve never been able to give a definitive answer. Usually we respond with, “to what?” and that’s really what has been holding back any movement on a possible name change. We really can’t think of anything better.
As time passes, it gets harder and harder on both sides of the name change isle. First, we would have to remarket ourselves. That means, buying new t-shirts, stickers, drum heads, and even this domain name.
On the other hand, it would be better to change it sooner than later. We are not a household name, a fresh start might be nice, and we could stop answering the question, “So, uh, what does that mean?” Not to mention, fans might actually be able to pronounce it.
So I propose the question, should we change our band name?
If you answered YES, start thinking about a new name. If we do decide to change the band name the person who helped select the new name will win a FREE SHIRT and a FREE COPY of our CD (that will be released soon). You know you’re excited! So start thinking!
If you answered NO, let us know as well! We want to know why.

Battle For Pointfest 2010 Review
Jan 25, 2010 News
We played the first round of the Battle for Pointfest 2010 on January 24th and now we wait. There are two options, win and play again or lose and go home. We knew it going in, but hard part will be waiting to see what happens.
We rocked Pop’s at the Battle for Pointfest 2010! We opened our set with a new song tentatively called FUK quickly followed up by Norman. We followed that rock intro with Broken, one of my personal favorites but quickly picked it back up with Personal Canary. Unsure of when we were playing on the radio we threw in Hey Refrain to fill some time. Then finally we played Petunia Whoopsylittle live on 105.7 The Point’s Local Show. Unsure of the word Pussylittle would be frowned upon I we changed the words to Whoopsylittle. Very soon we will have the whole set posted for your listening pleasure.
Every band played as hard as they could. Rock Action Robots opened the show, followed by The Redeemed. We picked the third timeslot and were followed by Dust N Bones and Ocean By July.
Now that the show is over we get the privilege of waiting for the results. Rumor has it that we can find out who won at the Pop’s Website or Archfront Media’s site. But win or lose, when we find out who the big winner is we’ll post it on achalachia.com to let everyone know.
So what’s next? Assuming we win, we will play another round at Pop’s and the winner of that show will play Pointfest 2010. So when we find out if we won or not we’ll let you know.
I would personally like to thank everyone that came out to support us Sunday night. Win or lose it was great to see 77 of our biggest fans flooding the bar. And if we win, I’m calling on all of you again to help support us in the next rounds. Pictures and music from the show will be posted soon, and if you have any pictures that you would like to submit, send us a message and we’ll let you know how to get them to us.
